I was actually happy to hear that the Democratic National Convention was hosted in Chicago this week. Honestly, I’m looking forward to hear what policies Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Waltz had in store for the American people. Before I even had the chance to watch the convention, the republicans are already claiming that their performance was a sh*t show. First foremost, I heard the DNC had free abortion and vasectomies’ available to any Americans who needed. This is a bit unorthodox. I can see why this would be promoted at this event but we’re already at a population decline. One thing that I know about Harris’ policies is that she fully support reproductive rights for women. I commend her for taking a stand and advocating for what she believes in. Let’s just think about it for a second…they’re killing babies at a convention. Or an democratic might say exercising their preventative measures on reproduction. Some of these people are most likely abusing this resource. Abortion is an sensitive topic for everyone but I’m just saying that there’s a time and place for this. It was a wrong move on the democratic party.
Another thing to note is that there wasn’t any women bathrooms at the DNC. The bathroom was divided by two categories: Men’s restroom and Gender Neutral restrooms. Wow… talk about patriarchy. I don’t understand because the democratic party talks about ratifying and destroying the patriarchy but we are letting the men win if we can’t acknowledge that wokeness is violating women spaces. New York 14th District Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) was highly passionate about Donald Trump true intentions at the DNC.
“Because we know that Donald Trump will sale this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his wall street friends…You can not love this country if you only fight for wealthy and big business.” – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC)
In similar context, she stating Donald Trump is trying to reclaim office again for a money grab. I think it’s important to note that before Trump took office, he was a businessman first. He came into the campaign as an wealthy person, with no ill intention nor greed. If it was all about greed/pride, I think he wouldn’t step foot in office if he knew what real threat he would be up against. I think anyone willing to fight for the position as president truly takes sacrifice because you’re putting yourself in a vulnerable position. I think that’s something that I actually admire about Harris and her running mate Waltz. As far as Trump making this gig as an money grab, it isn’t all politicians expecting to get some profit or earnings from their campaign? It’s an job at the end of the day.
I got most of my insights from an well known political commentator Amala Ekpunobi. Her and her co-host Taylor made an interesting observation stating that they missed the times when politics was boring. Those who were actually interested in politics had nuances in policies and economic issues. Nowadays the attention span has an certain threshold, so you have to endorse musicians like Lil John or Meghan Stallion to flag the audience you want. It’s an sad awakening but it’s the reality to get people voting. Ekpunobi said something interesting that I think should be pushed among young adults like myself.
“If your introduction to American politics is Lil John and Meg the Stallion and that’s the reason you’re getting involved in voting Democrat or if Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock are the ones that got you introduced into Republicanism, maybe y’all should just sit this one out…when people go and vote, they should ask who’s the candidate you’re voting for , why are you voting for this candidate, why not the other candidate.” – Amala Ekpunobi, political commentator
As harsh as others might stressed her response to be, I think she’s right. This isn’t a battle of Democrats v.s. Republicans. This is just pure understanding of basic political literacy. If you have no knowledge of it, why even consider voting? On Amala’s podcast, her and co-host made some accusations about Tim Waltz. I actually love Amala Ekpunobi and she’s always factual about her claims but I personally have to do my own research. They mentioned that Waltz is an known liar…Yikes. For instance, he said his children were an result of IVF. His wife later went public that this is not correct at all and that they endure other treatments but not IVF. I learned that Waltz signed an bill to put tampons in boy’s bathrooms in Minnesota schools. Waltz is telling conservatives to mind their own business with book burnings and other accusations about Waltz establishing an “COVID stitch line” where people can tell on their neighbors if they’re violating social distancing rules or restrictions on night hours. Also mandating orders for all workers in the state of Minnesota to get COVID vaccines as well as taking children away from parents who are express an desire to change their gender and their parents are unsupportive. If these accusations about Waltz is indeed true, we’re deemed to visit an dark place if Harris wins this upcoming election. That’s an scary place to embark. We legit can’t exercise free will under his control. From what I’m learning, Waltz position as governor in Minnesota was bizarre. It was an interesting choice for Harris to select Waltz as her running mate but at least we can envision what his political stances are. I also heard about Waltz granting illegal immigrants drivers licenses too. Can we work on legalizing these immigrants first? Let’s make them citizens. That would be an wise direction.
Michelle Obama spoke at the DNC. I think a lot of Americans including myself was hoping she would take the poll once Biden dropped out but that wasn’t the case. In fact, the Obamas decided to endorse Harris for this upcoming election. She makes an interesting claim that “we”…I’m assuming blacks will never benefit from affirmative action of generational wealth. In other words, she stating that whites are granted generational wealth purposefully for their whiteness. She also mentioned this statement as well.
If we bankrupt a business…we don’t get a second, third or fourth chance. If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead…If we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect there to be escalator waiting for us to take us at the top. – Michelle Obama, Former First Lady of the United States
To be honest, I had no idea what she was talking about at first but it sounds a bit racist. She insinuating that whites often have the luxury to be successful than blacks, simply because they either whined or cheated or perhaps had more chances than normal to get where they are. I think Ms. Obama is an amazing woman but this statement is living under that oppressive stigma or narrative. Apparently if you’re black, you are more oppressed than the white person. I’m positive that they are many blacks or people of color whose been able to accumulate generational wealth and vice versus there are many whites who don’t have generational wealth, struggling each day to put food on the table. Amala said it best “there’s definitely some racial undertone behind her statements.” Imagine being white at this convention only to be racially bashed by one of your favorite advocates. It remind me of how blinded I was from the democratic party. We’re fighting for equality and fairness but have to discriminate whites to get there. This is, in fact, racism whether we want to acknowledge it or not. I feel so embarrassed because I was her.
Lastly I got to share Amala’s response to Michelle’s speech about her mother. Ms. Obama stated that her mother used to volunteer at her local school in efforts to encourage and enrich hope in young voices from diversified backgrounds and grew suspicious of those who took more than they need. Amala mentioned that the Obamas have an combined net worth of over 70 million (that’s just from Michelle’s net worth alone) with multiple properties under their name, which is ironic that she said “they grew suspicious of those who took more than they need”.
They go into government , they acquire all of this money and then they talk about taxing the rich and my parents were hardworking Americans and they never took more than they needed meanwhile every single day you’re taking more than what you need according to your own ideology… to stand on the side and say that nobody should ever have more than what they need and we’re going move in the communist direction and it’s all about equity and making sure that everybody is equal, not only do we have equal opportunities but equal outcomes…and you’re sitting a cool $70 million dollars talking about that as if you don’t have access to an abundance of money. – Amala Ekpunobi
I couldn’t have say it any better to be honest. We can sit here and play victim all we want to as an marginalized group but at the end of day we’re all on the same plain field regardless on our diversified backgrounds. Things were different back then but we’re not living in the 19th century nor are we are living in slavery times. We are living the dream our ancestors wanted. I think they should be transparent about their riches and acknowledge that they got where they are because of the American people. And yes, they worked hard to get there too. We can’t dwell in this victim narrative much longer. This is the narrative that recessing black people now.
